Baler Safety Training for Your Team

Safety is the top priority when introducing any equipment into your operation. Commercial balers are powerful machines, and like any industrial equipment, they require proper training and safety protocols. The good news: when used correctly, balers are safe, reliable, and straightforward to operate.
RME doesn't just install a baler and leave. As part of our how our system works process, we train your team on safe operation and proper material handling.
Key Safety Practices
Safe baler operation follows a few core principles. Never reach into the baler chamber while it's operating. Always ensure the machine is stopped and locked out before clearing jams. Keep hands and loose clothing clear of moving parts. Don't overload the baler beyond its rated capacity. Use proper lifting techniques when handling finished bales.
Training Your Team
RME provides hands-site training during installation, covering loading techniques, cycle operation, bale tying and removal, and emergency procedures. We also cover what materials can and cannot be baled, see materials we recycle for the accepted list. Training is tailored to the specific baler model installed at your facility.
The OSHA machine guarding standards provide the regulatory framework for safe operation of compaction equipment like balers.
Ongoing Safety
Safety isn't a one-time event. RME recommends periodic refresher training, especially when new staff join. We also provide maintenance guidance to keep equipment in safe operating condition. Proper maintenance prevents the mechanical failures that lead to unsafe situations.
